For the first time CMA participated in the World Environment Day (WED) 2018, which was hosted by the Ministry for Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the protection of the environment. Every year, WED is celebrated to focus attention on pressing environment concerns, and the theme of the year 2018 was focused on plastic with the theme being Beat Plastic Pollution.
CMA was actively involved across many initiatives led by MoEF&CC on the occasion of WED 2018, such as presentations at technical sessions and showcasing of their efforts towards environment protection at the WED 2018 exhibition held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. CMA at its stall at the WED Exhibition highlighted waste utilisation through coprocessing and alternative fuel and raw materials (AFR), energy efficiencies and conservation along with increasing use of renewable energy, water conservation and harvesting, waste heat recovery, green belt development and sustainability initiatives. These were well received by the visiting audiences, which comprise policy makers, business, academic institutions besides the public at large.
