International Women’s Day is celebrated by CMA each year bringing to the fore the various roles being played by women in the Cement Industry in India, in keeping with this intent, CMA launched its initiative Women of Cement in 2022. CMA applauds and would like to highlight the women in the Cement fraternity. Women of Cement celebrates the resilience, strength and commitment of women in the Cement Industry and we call them, the Women of Cement.
It is truly inspiring to witness the growing presence of women in diverse roles within the Cement Industry. This shift underscores the dedication of our Member Companies to fostering gender inclusivity and empowerment.

Mrs. Seema Srivastava has been an integral part of MCL for the past four years, serving as an Associate responsible for Welfare and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). In this role, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to social impact and employee well-being, contributing to meaningful initiatives that benefit both the organization and the community. With a total of 13 years of prior experience, Mrs. Srivastava has developed a well-rounded expertise in welfare and CSR, having worked with esteemed organizations such as Vardhaman Spinning Mills and NGOs including Udyogini and Dr. Shambhu Prasad Research Foundation. Holding key positions such as IR Officer and Officer – Welfare/CSR, she has played a vital role in driving impactful social programs and employee relations. Mrs. Srivastava holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, which she completed in 2007. Additionally, she earned her Bachelor's degree in Hindi from Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, Varanasi, in 2005, further enriching her academic background. A strong advocate for inclusivity and equal opportunities, Mrs. Srivastava has expressed her appreciation for MCL's workplace culture, stating that she has always been treated fairly and has never faced gender-based discrimination. Her dedication and contributions reflect her unwavering commitment to fostering positive change and social responsibility.
Mrs. Jyoti Kanwar has been an integral part of Mangalam Cement Limited for the past eight years, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to excellence in her role as Associate in the Quality Control Department. She embarked on her professional journey with Mangalam Cement Limited and has since been a valuable contributor to the organization. With a strong academic foundation, she holds a Master of Science in Organic Chemistry from Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University, Ajmer. Mrs. Kanwar is a dedicated and diligent professional who has consistently excelled in her responsibilities, ensuring quality standards are met with precision. She has expressed that her experience within the organization has been one of equal and fair treatment, in line with her male colleagues, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment. Her expertise, work ethic, and commitment to excellence make her a respected member of the Mangalam Cement Limited team, and she continues to play a crucial role in maintaining the company’s high-quality standards.
Ms Sumedha is working as an Associate in the Process Department at Mangalam Cement Ltd (MCL), she brings expertise and dedication to her role. A postgraduate (M.Tech) in Chemical Engineering from MNIT Jaipur, she embarked on her professional journey with MCL in July 2023. Proud to be part of an organization that values diversity and inclusion, Ms. Sumedha thrives in an environment that fosters both professional and personal growth. MCL stands as a beacon of empowerment, where women professionals are encouraged to enhance their skills and take on leadership roles. Mrs. Poonam Sharma is Director – Human Resources at HeidelbergCement India, is MBA from HP University, Shimla and is an alumnus of Saint Bede’s College, Shimla. She did her schooling from Auckland Home School Shimla. She brings with her more than three decades of work experience in business and human resources profession and is presently working as Director – Human Resources at HeidelbergCement Limited. Before HeidelbergCement India she had worked with Hero Honda Motors Limited (now Motor Corp) world’s leader in two wheelers manufacturing handling import (Commercial) in the initial part of her career and later moved to Corporate, Human Resources. She took care pf Human Resources function in their Gurgaon plant of Hero Honda Motors before moving to ACME Telepower as Head – Human Resources. She joined Carrier (an air-conditioner pioneer in the world) as Director – Human Resources before moving to the Cement company, HeidelbergCement India Limited which is a German multinational company, which is a leader in Aggregate and number two in cement manufacturing globally. Having experience in both sides of commercial and in human resources her interest lies in partnering with the business to address the business as well as people aspects of the organisation. Have interest in the area of organisational development and integration of people and processes with respect to M&A, Organisational Design, People Development and Human Strategy. She is an ardent trainer and is a strong proponent of Diversity and Inclusivity in the Company. Reading, painting and sports are her passions other than Human Resources.
