3 E D I T O R I A L I am delighted to present the July-December 2023 edition of the CMA Journal CEMENT, ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENT. Continuing with its focus on sustainability to which the journal is dedicated, this issue covers industry articles and case studies on sustainable mines management, energy use optimisation, raising thermal substitution in Cement kilns, besides detailed and comprehensive treatise on decarbonisation, and regulatory imperatives that impact the Cement industry. The just concluded COP 28 saw momentum continuing to build on climate action. Net Zero remains an organising principle for the private sector leaders, who almost universally recognise the need to accelerate action. Industry sectors are deploying capital and accelerating their path to decarbonisation. Newer challenges to be faced in context in the future call for extended interventions, rigorous exercises and collaborative initiatives to be taken in the future. In addressing various issues on environment and decarbonisation. CMA has seen enhanced interactions and meetings with the Centre and State governments for timely resolution of matters, for seeking clarifications and remaining informed and updated on the subject.
