Page 65 Abstract Pollution caused by plastic made materials is one of the largest issues facing the world's land, water and air. Plastic which is not degradable and remains in our environment for longer period of time, is often disposed of littered with fragments of plastic, nets, packaging, bottles and debris that poses a serious threat to life. In order to protect animals and its habitats, it is important to not only properly dispose of and recycle plastic, but to develop and use plastic alternatives as well. The article discusses the potential for biodegradable plastics and their waste management. plastic production are driven by user demand, the price of fossil fuel, feedstock & investment made in petrochemical Industry. Introduction Plastic is used every day across the globe. According to Professor Andrew Holmes, from the University of Melbourne, no one in their daily life within a period of 10 minutes isn't touching something that is made of plastic. Plastic comprises clothes, phones, cars, laptops etc. are drawbacks and environmental issues with the increase in plastic pollution in past few decades, the impact on wildlife has been detrimental. The oceans are full of waste that is improperly disposed of with an estimated 2.36 lac tons of plastic contaminating the ocean. Every minute of our lives, one garbage truck of plastic is thrown away into the ocean. Plastic is a word that originally meant ‘pliable and easily shaped’. It only recently become a name for category of materials called polymer. The word polymer means of many parts and polymers are made of long chains invented in 1869 by John Werly Hyatt, by with camphor. plastic are derived from fossil based chemicals like natural gas or petroleum, 9.2 billion tons of plastic are estimated to have been made between 1950 & 2017. More than half of this plastic has been produced since 2004. In 2020, ˜400 million tons of plastic were produced. If global trend continue, it is estimated that by 2050 annual global plastic production will reach over 1100 million tons.
