plans to contain outdoor air pollution in urban areas which , inter aila, include: (i) Notification of emission standards for various categories of industries, under the Environment (protection) Rules, 1986; (ii) Implementation of action plans for improvement of the ambient air quality in 16 part from Delhi ; (iii) Introduction of cleaner fuels (B.S. III/IV} as per the Auto Fuel Policy; (iv) Introduction of gaseous fuel in select cities and towns ; (v) Sale and registration of B. S. IV complaint passenger cars in selected metropolitan cities and towns apart from National Capital region ; (vi) Use of beneficiated coal for based Thermal power plants; (vii) Enforcement of stringent 'Pollution Under Control (PUC)' certificate Scheme to check exhausted emissions from in-use vehicles ; (viii) Implementation of stringent emission norms for generator sets; (ix) Source Appointment Studies undertaken in six metro cities; (x) Implementation of the recommendations of the charter on corporate Responsibility for Environment Protection (CREP) for seventeen categories Of air pollution industries; (xi) Notification of National Ambient Air Quality Standards (November, 2009). (xii) Strengthening of National Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Network; (xiii) Inspection and monitoring of air pollution industries for compliance of the emission norms; and (xiv) Strengthening of public transport including establishment of metro rail in a few select metropolitan cities. **** Event Brief BRIEF REPORT ON CMA PARTICIPATION IN CEMTECH ASIA, JAKARTA 2013, SHANGRI-LA HOTEL, 24-27 JUNE, 2013 At the invitation of the International Cement Review (ICR) UK, Dr S. K. Handoo, Advisor (Technical- CMA) participated in the above Conference on 24th & 25thJune, 2013. The Conference was inaugurated by Mr Panggah Susanto, Director General, Manufacturing Industries, Ministry of Industry, Republic of Indonesia. Mr. Thomas Armstrong, Managing Editor, International Cement Review (UK), the Organizers of the Conference , Mr. Enrico Tanuwidjaja , RBS (Singapore), and Mr Widodo Santoso, Chairman of Indonesia Cement Association were also present at the Inaugural Session. The Presentation by Dr. Erica Tanuwidjaja, RBS (Singapore), highlighted the present and future growth scenario of Cement Industry particu larly in South East Asia. The subsequent Technical Sessions of the Conference included presentations on a variety of interesting subjects including, AFR- waste to flame solutions, Fly Ash Classifying & Cement blending, WHR, Energy Optimization, Coal Grinding Techniques, Biodiversity in limestone mines etc. 46
