26 IN HOUSE INNOVATION ON BAG COUNTING SYSTEM FOR CEMENT INDUSTRIES Cement Bag counter for Truck Loader & Cement bag counter for wagon loader is most popular requirement now a days. These are having option of interfacing with all required devices and dispatch monitoring system. These are cut above the competitors and do not fall in normal range of counters available in current market. If two bags approach the mechanical arm without any gap in between them then the bag counter counts them as one. Since the pulse generating unit consists of a moving arm, when the bag is passed it rebounds sometimes to give it an extra count. To avoid above mentioned problems we have proposed the automatic bag counting using IR sensor and matrix methods. Measure the height of the empty truck, before loading cement by using IR sensor. Sum the result of differential heights and it is divided by the height of a cement bag. Our R&D team looked at the weaknesses in the system and came up with an automated bag counting system with FIFO dispatch. Before the full bag counting system was commissioned and implemented, a prototype of the system was constructed, tested, and approved by the management. Every truck has a higher frequency of tolerance. Hence truck turnaround times have unexpectedly increased. Bag shortages were also a source of dissatisfaction among transporters. Our logistics department was also having difficulty because of marketing department’s continuous complaints. Taking this into account, Research & Development center had developed the Bag counting system. However, the present study came up with an automated bag counting system with FIFO dispatch.
