Measuring par cle size is a key part of the quality control process and helps ensure a high performance product in terms of overall cement strength. It is well documented that cement performance is related to its composi on and its fineness. By necessity for its performance, cement is made up of a distribu on of par cle size. Measuring and controlling the par cle size distribu on of cement is important to achieve the desired cement performance and to control manufacturing cost. Cement par cle size directly affect the se ng and hardening process and a series of physical processes, such as its strength and flow characteris c. In tradi onal process cement fineness was measured using Blaine number. The limita on of the technique, are that it is slow manual procedure and there are chances of error because of manual sample. Our team iden fied a unique idea of op mizing Cement Mill-2 with the help of ge ng online data of Par cle size distribu on, as it helps in tuning the mill parameters which further helps in op mizing the mill throughput. With the use of Xop x online par cle sizer, our produc on team could directly monitor the complete par cle size distribu on for the different grades of cement. The in-process data produced by the Xop x system correlated and tracked extremely well with offline sieve data, which gave the team confidence in implemen ng the data to op mize the produc on process. It is very helpful if there are various source of fly ash & quality of fly ash varies from the same source also. We have installed an online PSD analyzer in our Cement Mill-2. Earlier it was observed that there were significant varia on in the product residue and blaine, inspite of no changes being observed in the process. These varia on forced CCR officer to adjust the separator RPM and wait for an hour or two to see the impact.
