Cement, Energy and Environment

Vol 16 No.2 Jul-Dec 2017 CEMENT, ENERGY and ENVIRONMENT EDITORIAL At the outset, I would like to express my best wishes to all the readers for the New Year 2018. The year gone by has largely seen CMA engage on the policy front with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) and with Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). As most would be aware, these have been largely on compliance of emission norms on which we arrived at a plan of action through a consultative approach with CPCB. The matter relating to use of pet coke by the Cement Industry required representation at the Supreme Court of India. The Supreme Court judgement dated December 13, 2017, provided the much awaited relief to the Cement Industry. An issue of import, which has been discussed at various fora, has been about the low carbon path and this issue of the Cement, Energy and Environment (CEE) focusses on this aspect. We have received extremely well researched and authoritative papers from different experts for this issue. I would like to thank the contributors for their interest and due submissions, which make the journal substantive. I wish you a good read and would look forward to your feedback on the issue.
