Mr. Tuzun, stated that as of 2014 the cement production capacity in Turkey reached the level of 85 million tons , and pointed out that in making the macro plans regarding the future of the sector, current capacity must be assessed when it comes to the incentives in cement investments. Mr. Tuzun said, "Instead of general incentive applications, incentives must be granted according to the capacity of the area and region where the plants will be established. By doing so, capital can be used in a more productive manner. " Mr. Tuzun also pointed out the fact that in the initial 4-month period of 2015, the cement production decreased by approximately 18% when compared with the same period of the previous year. Mr. Tuzun also informed that approximately 19 million-tons of cement was produced during that period. Mr. Tuzun further explained that 13% of the cement produced in that period was exported and added , "The reduction encountered in cement production has reflected on the sales figures of that period. In addition to the 17% decline taking place in the domestic sales in the first four months of the year, exports diminished by 4% on ton basis compared to the same period of the previous year according to the data from TUIK. Export falling to 2.56 million tons in the mentioned period declined by 10% on dollar basis and became approximately 130 million dollars. The domestic sales of the cement sector that has experienced reduction against the same period of the previous year declined down to 17 million tons." Support Come from the Housing Investments of the Private Sector ~efik Tuzun also informed that, based on the data of TOiK, the export of clinker increased by 13% on ton basis when compared to the same period of the previous year and reached to 1.16 million tons. Tuzun said that the increase on dollar basis reached to 4% and high lighted the clinker export value of 40 million dollars. In his assessment of 2014 in the cement sector, ~efik Tuzun said that last year was difficult both in view of the domestic and international developments and in terms of climatic conditions. Mr. ~efik Tuzun also highlighted the appearance of a decline in the production and sales numbers, despite the increase of the previous year's capacity utilization ratio to the level of approximately 90%. Mr. ~efik Tuzun further continued as follows: "Domestic sales in the sector increased by only 13% last year, in line with the growth o1' the construction sector. In 2014, in which particularly the pace of the public infrastructure investments diminished, investments of the private sector supported the cement sector." 42
