- RELIANCE POWER TARGETS 1GW OF RENEWABLE ENERGY CAPACITY Reliance Power (R Power), part of the diversified Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG), is all set to foray into the green power business. J.P. Chalasani , Chief Executive Officer of R.Power, recently announced a target of achieving 1GW of renewable capacity by 2017 at an estimated investment of Rs. 100 billion. The plan is already in motion, with at least 300 MW of wind and solar capacity at advanced stages of tendering , says a senior company official. If these plans come through , renewable energy would constitute roughly 3 per cent of the power major's ambitious capacity addition plans of 35 GW by 2017.
