Cement Energy and Environment
' Utilization of Alternative Fuel and Raw Material in Cement Manufacturing I Mr. D.K.Patel Tech Head & Team JK Cement works, Mangrol Introduction Dispose off hazardous waste & other waste generated by industry as well as human being is becoming a big challenge for environment. Cement manufacturing plants are contributing a lot in disposing waste for environment sustainability in the world . For the effective disposal of hazardous waste and other industrial wastes cement pyro process system is very suitable. As cement Kiln operates under high temperature conditions, most of the wastes are completely burnt leaving very litl:'e quantity of emissions to the environment. Utilization of hazardous waste and other alternative fuel resources has become need of hour, particularly for cement plants as it is a very energy intensive industry. Approximately 40-45% of Cement production cost is covered by thermal & electrical energy cost. Burning of all suitable wastes in cement kilns is not only contributing in effective disposal but also helping in conserving fossil fuels as well as reducing carbon foot prints .Cement industry is using various alternative fuels like Petroleum coke, Biomass, Hazardous waste of other industries. JK Cement Mangrol is putting in efforts to co process the various waste generated in chemical industries. Various types of AFRs Co-processed by JK Cement are agro waste, carbon black, ETP sludge, fiber mass, Solid Hazardous Waste , Liquid Hazardous Waste , Pyrolysis oil. 1.
