' \ CMA Activities on tHe Technical Front During the period, CMA Technical Committee engaged itself particularly in following up, with the various contentious issues arising out of the enactment of the amendments to the MMDR Act and the Notification of emission norms by the MoEF & CC for cement industry. Association successfully hosted the znd International Conference on Enhanced Usage of Alternative Fuels and Raw Materials in Cement Industry in New Delhi on 19 - 20 February 2015, in collaboration with Institute of Industrial Productivity. This time, the Theme of the conference was "ADDRESSING ENVIRONMENTAL, ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL CONCERNS", and it had five Technical Sessions to discuss issues of International Best Practices for Promoting AFR, Un-locking of finances for mainstreaming AFRs, Creating an enabling Policy and Regulatory environment, Energy Savings and Carbon Mitigation through Enhanced Use of AFRs, Innovative Partnership Models to Promote AFR, followed by a Concluding Session on Road Ahead: Creating a Knowledge Exchange Platform for sustained action. The conference was inaugurated by Shri J M Mauskar, Member, Prime Minister's Council on Climate Change & Former Special Secretary, MoEF & CC, Govt. of India. Shri Shatrughna Singh, Additional Secretary, DIPP, delivered the key note address. A Special Publication on "Indian Cement Industry: Enhanced Alternative Fuels and Raw Materials Usage- Way Ahead" was released on the occasion by the Chief Guest. Earlier Dr Jigar V Shah, Executive Director, Institute of Industrial Productivity, delivered the welcome address, giving an overview of the conference. Special addresses were delivered by Dr S Chouksey, Vice President, CMA, and Mr Gregory Harvey, Counsellor Commercial & Trade Commissioner,
