DALMIA CEMENT'S GOKAK PLANT TO BE READY IN 5 MONTHS Dalmia Cement Bharat is to commission its greenfield cement plant in Yadwad village, Gokak taluk (Karnataka), in five months. The ~344-crore plant is spread over 380 acres with a total capacity of 2.5 million tonnes a year and will cater to the Karnataka region. "The new plant when commissioned will augment our overall manufacturing capabilities, and expand our annual production capacity from 17 million tonnes to 21.8 million tonnes," the company said in a release. To build the Belgaum plant, Dalmia Cement has roped in Holtec Engineering as the main engineering consultant , Larsen & Toubro for electrical installation, GOCL for civil works and infrastructure, and Haj i APbaba for mechanical erection. It also means reduced chemical treatment costs in systems such as boilers and cool ing towers. Finding and eliminating long-standing leaks can create a better work environment for building occupants, as well as reduce damage to bui lding components. As per the deal, UltraTech, a leading manufacturer of cement in India, will acqu1re Jaypee's cement unit in Gujarat compnsmg an integrated cement plant at Sewagram, limestone reserves, captive power plant and mining leases , among others. In an order released on Monday, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) said "it is of the opinion that the proposed combination is not likely to have an appreciable adverse effect on competition in India". The Commission in its order has observed that ABG Cement and Lafarge India were likely to setup cement plants in the state of Gujarat and Rajasthan respectively.
