,. .. .... construction site may be used as they are without the need for transporting from long distances, thus economizing and simplifying the work process. By using the new binder Fujibeton, a stable roadbed and sub-base capable of adapting to the· geo log ical, topographical and varying climatic conditions may be constructed. Since the extraction of the aggregates and the replacement of soil is unnecessary, this method of soil hardening is preferable from the point of view of environmental preservation and pollution prevention also. The chemical composition of different oxides of Fujibeton is more or less similar to that of OPC. But in addition to above, the following components are also present in Fujibeton: Lignin (NaS0 4 ) , Na 5 P 3 010' CaCH 3 (CH) 16 COOH, NaOH, slag and silica compounds. The initi al se tting time of Fujibeton is comparable with ordinary Portland cement. Th e final setting in cast of Fujibeton is somewhat lower than that of OPC. The specific gravity of Fujibeton is 3.04 and the fineness in terms of specific surface area is 380 m 2 /kg. As the Fujibeton hardens very fast after final setting, the rate of shrinkage decreased rapidly and therefore, shrinkage cracks do not occur as is the case with coventional cements. Curing is unnecessary due to its constituents having a high water content. The design for the thickness of the beton sub– base and composition of layers has to be done rationally with due consideration for the roadbed (design CBR), traffic (classification or t ype of traffic by volume), climatic conditions and the economy. For determining the Fujibeton mix, the following shall be adopted: • Soil Classification Test • Compaction Test • Compressive Strength Test Some forty years ago, research was initiated with the aim of preserving nature's beauty and earths limited resources , thus contributing towards the further development of mankind. After a lapse of twenty five years, a soil harqener- FUJIBETON- was finally produced which was economical and that facilitate the reduction in the destruction of nature in construction works. To learn of any important characteristic changes due to time, a further ten years elapsed before the product was finally placed on the market. Today, the stabilizing effect of Fujibeton on soil is widely r ecognized and has been extensively adopted, not only in the construction of roadbeds and sub-base, but recently, also for the hardening and setting of muddy areas. In addition, it is also used m the cons truction of drains, promenades, irrigation ponds and soil setting improvement projects.
