Renewing india.org CLEAN TECHNOLOGY INITIATIVES Shree Cement Ltd. Shree Cement Ltd operates (SCL) a continual upgradation/rnodificaton programme to reach new heights in production. The production horn both kiln lines, is 7800 tpd as against the installed capacity of 5500 tpd. The growth in production has resulted in increased raw material transportation, movement of vehicles, causing high fugitive dust ernissons. Performance measurements are continuously carried out to monitor process parameters in various sections of the plant. Varous parameters, which are monitored or regular basis, are : •:• Optimisation of raw mix design. Fitness of raw mix, coal and the final product. Plugging of false air entry in mills/kiln section. Regular monitoring and calibration of flow meters. Regular monitoring of gas flow, temperature and drafts in the kiln and mill circuit. Waste minimization. •!• Advance perventive , predictive maintenance technique. The SCL team has installed high efficiency dynamic separators and Sepax Separators, SPRS for speed control, a RAMCO expert system for quality control, indigenously designed low pressure hvin cyclone, the IKN - KIDS sys tem in the coooler first grate, computer aided mine planning, installation of cooler_ESP, increasing the area of the kiln riser duct, raising the T. A. duct area, conversion of the 2 and 3 stage conventional cyclone to low pressure cyclones, installation of auto samplers, increasing the ducting of raw mill circuit etc. Flyash, a pozzolanic mate rial and a byproduct of a thermal power plant, is successfully used for the manufacture bf blended cement as it has better engineering properties than ordinary Portland cement. At Shree Cement U-I approximately 18 5000 Nm 3 /h of cooler exhaust gases are available from the clinker cooler. To use this heat, a 15 tph boiler has been installed to produce 2.5 MW and is heated by part of the gas. The boiler ha·s a supplementary firing facility of coal. By doing so 2100 million t of C0 2 per year has been reduced. To provide a clean, safe and healthy environment pollution was kept under control at the plant by installing highl'y efficient bag filters, ESPs and water spray sys tems on the crusher. An environment protection cell has been specially created for continuous monitoring of environmental conditions., finding causes ad suggesting immediate remedial measures. Seminar and training programmes also helped to futher enhance knowledge and efficiency.
