The accreditation given by Bureau Veritas Quality International Espana SA of Spain, was generally a prerequisite to supplies of cement to Europe. The 2001 Energy ConservationAward have added significance with the passage of the Energy Conservation Act and the formation of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). An Energy Conservation Award Committee, set up under the Chairmanship of Secretary (Power), decides the winners. The members on the committee have been drawn fromMoP, the Central Electricity Authori ty (CEA), National Productivity Council (NPC), Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), and Ministry of Industry (Mol). The Confederation of Indian Indus try (CII) and the Energy Management Centre (EMC) are responsible for administrative and technical support to the committee. ATechnical Sub-committee set up by MoP assists the Award Committee in the finalisation of the awards. The Energy Conserva tion Awards 2001 announced on December 14, which is ENERGYCONSERVATIONDAY. The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) is to be activated soon. The Ministry of Power (MoP) and German Technical Corporation (GTZ) are launching a quarterly bulletin called ENERGISE under the Indo-German Energy Efficiency & Environment Project(IGEEP).
