74 D D Purohit, DGM (Putty Lab) JK White Cement Works, Gotan Putty Application by Applicator Tool ABSTRACT Every Putty manufacturer carries out putty application tests. In this context various tests carried out after putty application on substrate and this application is carried out by the use of Applicator tool. Use of Right tool can give sustainable and consistent result. Hence development of tool according to the use of application is a critical factor. This is shown in the case study below. About plant JK White Cement Works, Gotan is the First White Cement manufacturing factory in India which manufactured White Cement through dry process technology. The Gotan plant was commissioned in 1984 with an initial production capacity of 50,000 TPA. It uses technical expertise from FLSmidth & Co. of Denmark with their State-of-the-art technology of continuous on-line quality monitoring and control by X-Ray Analyzer and PLC Systems, ensuring manufacturing of purest white cement. Over the years, continuous process improvements and modifications have increased the plant’s production capacity to 8, 80,000 tons per annum. Presently, the plant is operating at ever since lowest energy levels & highest level of Productivity in White Cement & Wall Putty. In JK White Plant Premises, apart from White Cement Manufacturing facilities, Dry Mix mortar plant also exist in which organization manufacturers Wall Putty & allied products under value added product (VAP) category .Our dry mix mortar plant are having German Erich Make intensive high speed mixer, Plant operations are controlled with PLC based systems having Centralized control room (CCR) & our dry mix mortar testing lab is equipped with many German make equipment for Dry Mix products test. Dry Mix products are developed for less wastage, low carbon emission & good aesthetic look with durability. Context in the application of tool Every Putty manufactures carried out putty application tests. In this context various test carried out after putty application on substrate and this application is carried out by the use of Iron Putty blade (with or without wooden handle) for both first & second coat application. When application done with putty blade, it gives good results in terms of appearance but in terms of quality assurance, results having some deviations. Need of Modification Earlier Putty blade was used for testing the putty application in our putty lab, which was specifically designed for comprehensive testing of various product of dry mix mortar family.
