Wastes occur in different forms and qualities, some types of waste cannot be consumed in the cement kilns directly, but must undergo a preparation process, the transformation of wastes to homogeneous forms requires certain standards and this pre-processing produces a waste product with defined characteristics that complies with the technical specifications of cement production and compliance of environmental standards . Still some work is required in terms of installing /operating pre-processing faci lities for the wastes. Six cement plants of the State have been perused for providing pre-processing facilities in order to convert wastes into more acceptable and efficient manner. The Board has granted an authorization for pre-processing faci lity of M/s. Recycling Solutions Pvt. Ltd , Panoli to collect wastes from individual industries , carry out pre– processing and sent processed wastes to M/s. Lafarge India (P) Ltd. Chhattisgarh. GPCB's way ahead At National level, in order to brainstorm on the regulatory and policy issues and to find a solution to overcome some of these barriers, a Forum of Regulators has been constituted with high level representation from State Pollu.tion Control Boards of major high cement producing states.
