Cement and Energy

disseminate the findings and propagate the results of the energy and environmental audits conducted in selected industrial units in cement, paper and sugar industries. A total of six presentations were made amongst which one highlighted the background of the ADB Energy Efficiency Support Project and another dealt with the macro level approach adopted . Out of the remaining four, one was devoted to the findings of the audits conducted in seven cement plants. Seminar on Energy and Environmental Audits This Seminar was organised jointly by ADB and ICICI in Mumbai. ADB had financed nearly US $ 2.4 billion for the energy sector in India during the past 10 years. In order to channel funds for energy conservation, ADB had provided a $ 150 million loan to IDBI under the industrial energy efficiency project to fund commercial ly viable projects. Seminar on latest Energy & Environmental Technologies in Cement Industry Organised by CII at Hyderabad on 24th June, 1997. The seminar focussed on ADB Energy Efficiency Support Project as related to the latest energy and environmental technologies in cement industry. The Seminar was inaugurated by Shri R. Partha Sarathy, Secretary General, CMA. About 40 executives from cement industry participated in the Seminar. Papers were presented on Modern Energy Efficient Technologies, Energy Conservation efforts in Cement Plants, Energy Conservation norms and energy audit. The ADB line of credit under the lEEP project was also discussed.
