NATIONAL AWARD FOR ENERGY EFFICIENCY IN INDIAN CEMENT INDUSTRY T he 'National Award for Energy Efficiency' was instituted by NCB in 1986-87, with the objective of motivating competitive improvement in perfom1ance, and improving energy consciOusness in ,Indian Cement fndustry through national recognition to efforts of realisation of low energy consumption. Six awards are given away every year, out of which five are for improvement in energy performance and one is for best energy performance. Awards for Improvement in Energy Performance The relative improvement in energy consumption is worked out individually for electrical and thermal'energy consumptions as well as for the total energy consumption. The five awards are for the best, second best, third best, This Award was instituted in 1991-92. The energy consumption level up to clinkerisation of each unit for the plant posting the lowest energy consumption qualifies for the Award.
