7. Source emission monitoring during use of Plastic & Polythene (2011-12):-During FY 2011-12, we have monitored the PM, S02 , NOx & CO in Raw Mill+ Kiln Stack during Plastic co– incineration & results are given in table-2. Table-2: Source emission monitoring during use of Plastic & Polythene Parameter With uso·of Plastic & Particulate matter (Mg/Nm3) NOx (PPM) S02(PPM) Carbon Monoxide (PPM) Combustion efficiency, % BDL- Below Detectable Level Polythono 32-65 613-737 BDL 87-138 >99% 8. Impact study on Clinker Quality by using Plastic & Polythene as an alternative fuel– We have done comparative study of clinker quality with and without using plastic & polythene in our Cement Kiln. The result reveals that there is no negative impact on clinker Quality & results are given in table-3. Table-3: Chemical Characteristics of Clinker while using Plastic & Polythene Parameters Plastic & Polythcne Without{%) With{%) Si02 20.95 20.87 A~03 5.59 5.66 F~03 5.01 4.88 CaO 64.19 64.09 MgO 1.06 1.08 so3 1.58 1.67 K20 0.44 0.48 Na~ 0.11 0.14 Cl 0.002 0.01 MnO 0.10 0.10 SrO(ppm) 418 407 V~s(ppm) 410 416 Cr203(ppm) 75 71 Ni02(ppm) 60 72 Zr203(ppm) 35 31 ZnO (ppm) 56 60 CO (ppm) 21 21 Chemical Parameters LSF 92.10 92.10 SM 1.98 1.98 AM 1.12 1.16 Bogue Potential Phase c3s 49.17 48.99 c2s 22.97 22.87 C3A 6.34 6.74 C4AF 15.25 14.85 Liquid 29.40 29.34 Free CaO 0.90 0.86 9. Physical Properties of Cement The clinker samples collected before and during Co-processing of Plastic & Polythene and were ground in the laboratory ball mill with same amount of gypsum at identical fineness. The complete physical testing was carried out in quality control laboratory and the result reveals that there is no negative impact observed in Cement quality. Results are given in table-4 Table-4: Physical Properties of Cement while using Plastic & Polythene Plastic & Polytheno Without With NC (%water used) 24.2 24.5 Blaine (M2/Kg) 288 288 Initial Setting Time (min.) 145 155 Final Setting Time (min.) 200 210 Compressive Strength (mpa) 1day 24.2 24.3 3 days 40.3 41.4 7 days 50.8 51.2 28 days 65.2 65.6 10. Conclusion :- The co-processing result shows that there is no adverse impact on the environment as well as on the clinker & cement properties. Hence co– processing of Plastic waste is one of the best alternatives for its disposal, saving of energy resource, in ecological sustainable and environmental friendly manner.
