48 Green Concrete made from Waste Printed Circuit Boards (E-Waste) SANJEEV SHROFF Unit Head - Kalol Grinding Unit, JK Lakshmi Cement Ltd. Abstract Electrical and electronic waste (e-waste) is one of the fastest growing waste streams in the world due to its high rate of obsolescence. Market penetration in developing countries and replacement market in developed countries have resulted in the exponential increase of E-waste volume in the last two decades. Environmental pollution from E-waste is an important issue in this age of electronics. The following graphs show the existing and projected amount of E-waste generated across the world and in India Global E-waste growth E-waste growth rate in India As a key component in almost all electronic equipment, large amounts of Waste Printed Circuit Boards (WPCBs) are generated. Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) form about 3 -6% by weight of the total amount of electronic scrap. In this trial an attempt is made to use powdered non- metallic WPCB in concrete as a 10% replacement of sand and conducted strength analysis at 7 days and 28 days. Results of these experiments show that there is an increase of 22% in the compressive strength. 2019 53,6 55,5 57,4 59,4 61,3 63,3 65,3 67,2 69,2 71,1 72,9 74,7 2020 Tons Volume in million metric Year 2021 2022 2023 2024 2025 2026 2027 2028 2029 2030 2017 2019 2021 2023 2025 863662 1045031 1264488 1530030 E-Waste 2000000 200000 400000 600000 800000 1000000 1200000 1400000 1600000 1800000 1851337 Year
