42 Rainwater Harvesting: Rainwater is stored in the exhausted Limestone Mines Pits for Industrial & domestic use by Cement Plants, Residential Colonies & nearby Villages. Installation of Air Cooled Condensers; ACCs in Captive Power Plants & WHRS of Cement Plants to reuse the condensed water in place of traditional water cooling systems. Installation of overhead pipelines in place of underground pipelines. Installation of sensor-based sprinklers on conveyor belts and transfer points. Cooling Towers are integrated with closed loop process to reuse condenser cooling water at power plants. Arrest leakages by replacing mild steel-based pipelines with PVC based pipelines. Utilization of the Mist Type System for dust suppression rather than Conventional System. The Mist type nozzle-based system will have greater width cover & thus will cover a larger area in one trip of suppression. Re-use, Recycle & Retreat Water as much as possible. Use of Touch Free Electronic Taps: Such taps have a sensor, which cuts off the water supply completely when not in use. This helps in saving up to 70% water during hand washing. Desalination - To augment the depletion of freshwater resources in Coastal Areas due to excessive extraction, desalination like distillation, electro-dialysis and reverse osmosis are available. Collection of Rainwater on the Roofs of Buildings and storing it underground for later use (Rooftop water harvesting programmes). Installation of Sewage Treatment Plants. To reuse treated water for various purposes like horticulture, plantation, etc. Maximize the use of surface water rather than groundwater by using Polymer beads to reduce water evaporation. Green Belt Development at Mines, Plant & Colony. Trees play an important role in balancing the Water Cycle. They hold the soil together and make it permeable. Therefore, water can easily flow into the underground water reserves. Propagation of Dry Garden / Eco Lawns- As a step towards water conservation and propagation of native plant species, drought resistant plantation (plants requiring less water) should be carried out.
