Automation for operational efficiency L&T's automation solutions integrates a number of functions including protection, control , metering , monitoring, energy management that help customers reduce a number of devices and hence, complexity of wiring in their plants, better access and reporting of data through the integration with IT systems thereby increasing the operational efficiency of their installation. L&T provides OEMs products that help them to offer high-end automated solutions to their customers. Our MO contactor range has ASI and PLC interface that enables completely integrated solution for motor control. Similarly, L&Ts new range of Automatic Power Factor Control (APFC) panels is equipped with communication interface to connect with plant automation systems. The dsine range of MCCBs with Matrix protection release communicates with other products in the system on a common protocol. Customers can view all the system parameters on a single screen and control the protection settings. U Power Omega ACB can be integrated with HMI communication software either through Modbus or Profibus protocol. The break can be controlled and parameterization can be done easily. Automatic Source Transfer Switch (ASTS) is a reliable, automatic power transfer scheme that switches from a preferred to an alternate source in the event of power disruption and reverts to the preferred supply when power is restored. This ensures continuity in supply at critical installations. L&T offers six different power transfer schemes to customers depending upon their requirement. The automation features in the Single phase and tri-vector electrical meters and protection relays and DIN rail energy meter - 'mi-Energy' automatically collect data at regular intervals and eliminate manual reading. Motor protection becomes simple and convenient with MCOMP through the reduction of various discr~te components, eliminating needs for external CTs and thereby minimal wiring. With FCOMP Feeder Protection Relay, load shedding among other functions is an automated solution. Building Automation solutions provides centralized remote monitoring and control solution for services like HVAC, Electricity, Lighting, Plumbing, Video surveillance & Fire detection system. L&T's industrial automation solutions comprising drives, PLCs, HMI and proximity & motion sensors integrated with energy management systems offers better utilization of lighting loads. Andreas Bohm - Montanuniversitaet Leoben, chair of Mineral Processing, Austria, assistant professor CEMTEC's Research & Development capabilities, focusing on the example ofthe vertical mill Summary: The production of mineral products, which perform highly import functions in modern materials ("functional minerals"), of defined and usually extremely fine particle size distributions at minimized energy consumption, is playing an increasingly important role on the European market. In this field, the use of roller mills is a forward– looking technology. The necessary grinding parameters for these mills generally have to be determined with extensive test plans, in order to attain the required specifications under competitive conditions. Modern design of experiments and test evaluation assist in shortening this process, thus making it more cost-effective. Within this conflicting field, CEMTEC is working in co-operation with the Montanuniversitaet Leoben, to develop efficient process technology. Introduction CEMTECH has been a supplier of grinding equipment and integrated plants in the mineral resources sector for more than twenty years. The fillers and extenders industry, which is important especially for the European market, has so far been supplied predominantly with ball mill and classifier technology. In 2008, the benefits of roller grinding, including a smaller installation footprint, comparatively high feed dispersity and reduced specific energy consumption, provided the incentive for the company to expand its product range to include vertical roller mills. An innovative drive concept and a focus on the fillers industry, and ultra– fine grinding, were the key factors in the development of the mills, setting them apart from conventional roller grinding technology. As the requirements for the fineness of mineral fillers are constantly rising, there is huge need for in-depth understanding of the comminution-relevant processes occurring in grinding machines, in order to meet the required specifications. 23
