In the Solar Energy segment, we are second to none while in the Wind Energy segment, we are catching up with Tamil Nadu which ranks first in India. As far as sustainable development in this sector is concerned our government working in the line of relevant national and international standards and practices. These include introduction of high efficiency super critical boiler for thermal power stations, minimizing the use of coal, carbon sequestration etc. We have introduced efficiency conservation ) practices several energy (and energy methods and for domestic, commercial and industrial sector which reduce C0 2 that is important for sustainable development and for a low carbon economy. The Renewable utilities in our State and West Bengal Renewable Energy Development Agency [WBREDA] and West Bengal Green Energy Development Corporation Ltd. [WBGEDCL]. WBREDA was created in 1993 with the objective to promote Renewable Energy Programmes in West Bengal. To promote green energy through commercial enterprises WBGEDCL was created in 2008.
