As the cement industry’s consolidated voice and advocacy platform, the Cement Manufacturers’ Association (CMA) takes up matters and issues concerned with the requirement of coal/fuel on a regular basis; the association is guided in these matters by the CMA Committee on Coal Matters — a sub-committee under the Management Committee of the association.
The sub-committee holds periodic meetings and interacts with various government authorities on coal-related issues. Also, opinions and suggestions are sought from members on specific issues and problems as they arise before approaching concerned authorities for their resolution.
The coal committee, therefore, serves as a vital link between member companies and government on all matters related to coal and fuel requirement. To accomplish this, CMA organises regular interactions and meetings with the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Ministry of Railways, Coal India Limited and its subsidiaries, and attends meetings of the Standing Linkage Committee (Long-Term) on issues related to fuel supply agreements, coal blocks, coal washeries, transportation and logistics, etc.
